Elon Musk Says Tesla Will Launch Prototype Of Humanoid Robot Next Year

The world is not far from the day when humanoid robots will be extensively interwoven into our lives and will perform significant duties that we are entirely capable of performing. However, some fear an impending catastrophe as a result of the same robots produced with artificial intelligence (AI).

Elon Musk's stand on artificial intelligence

Given Musk's earlier pronouncements about artificial intelligence, one can surmise that he believes it will eventually tame humans. Musk stated in one of his 2018 interviews with comedian and mixed martial artist Joe Rogan:

"I've tried to convince people to slow down on AI, to regulate AI. This was futile, I've tried for years, nobody listened, nobody listened."

Some viewers joked that Musk was sent from the future because he was speaking in the past tense about his warning about the need for AI regulation, while others speculated that he is developing 'Neuralink' to offer humans a fighting chance against the robots. You may view the AI segment below.

Mesmer Project: 'Bringing life to robots'

Musk's response video comes from Cornwall-based Engineered Arts, which is constructing lifelike humanoid robots that are powerful, elegant, and cost-effective as part of the Mesmer project. The video depicts the head of a Mesmer robot as it is put through its paces and displays various facial emotions. Engineered Arts states the following about Mesmer robots:

"Expressive like nothing else, Mesmer can display a huge range of human emotion. Each Mesmer robot is designed and built from 3D in-house scans of real people, allowing us to imitate human bone structure, skin texture and expressions convincingly."

Mesmer robots run on the company's proprietary operating system, Tritium, which simplifies programming and enables remote control. Interestingly, the robots are also equipped with a telepresence programme called Tinman, which enables robot owners to interact with people in their immediate vicinity despite being in a distant location.

According to the business, operating a Mesmer robot requires no technological expertise because it can be accessed via a computer or other internet device. Engineered Arts recently posted another video in which it debuted 'Ameca,' a robot capable of exhibiting the most genuine human facial emotions.
